We have 34 deep water swinging moorings for visiting vessels which are coloured depending on their maximum vessel size. There are 28 yellow mooring buoys which can accommodate vessels up to a maximum of 40 feet (12m). There are 6 green mooring buoys which will accommodate vessels up to a maximum of 60 feet (18m). All mooring buoys for visiting vessels will have a top-chain fitted with a pick-up buoy attached to assist you. When coming ashore on your tender, head towards the pontoon alongside the main quay. There are 5 red mooring buoys adjacent to the main quay which can accommodate vessels up to a maximum of 30 feet (9m) – these are not suitable for vessels with a fin keel. Each buoy will have an inflatable tender to use to get to the pontoon and then back to your vessel. On spring tides, vessels left on the red buoys may dry out. Vessels visiting from outside the UK should ensure they have read the relevant information from the UK Government website (here) before setting off from their home port. Please contact the Harbour Team on VHF Ch 14 if you require assistance on the moorings or call 01720 422768 to enquire about mooring availability. Please note, there is strictly no anchoring within St. Mary’s Harbour
We have inner berths available to stay alongside however these are tidal and will dry out. When the tide allows, you can berth alongside the quay wall where you will find fresh water and electricity available – the service bollards are operated with a £1.00 coin. Vessels are able to both dry out and/or raft up here for as long as required. The depth here is CD+1.0m (a drying height of 1.0m) Please note: The pontoon alongside the wall is only for vessels up to a maximum of 16’ (5m) LOA. Vessels are invited to berth alongside the quay wall at the inner berths only, ahead of the white line painted at the top of the inner steps. While here you may collect water, top up the electric or stay for overnight berthing. Skippers should be aware that the inner berths are approximately 1 metre above Chart Datum. Please note that tying to the handrails, or using these berths for hull cleaning, is strictly prohibited. It may be possible for larger vessels to lay alongside the Quay’s outer berth on certain nights; however this must be arranged with the Harbour Master.
Collection of all waste (except glass and tins) is done by our harbour team each morning whilst out on the water. Please help our recycling effort by separating any glass and tins you might have from general waste to allow us to recycle them. There are recycling bins on the quay for these items. You will also find general refuse bins here but for waste already in bags, head to the black wheelie bins outside the harbour office. Please contact the Harbour Office if you wish to dispose of waste oil or products containing oil. Waste arriving from outside the EU needs to be dealt with separately. Please contact the office for details.
In the main building on the quay we have ladies, gents and unisex disabled toilets. In the same block are four shower cubicles one of which is fully equipped for disabled access. The shower and toilet block is open 24 hours throughout the season. Showers are operated with a £1.00 coin or with a token available from the harbour office.
Whilst alongside the inner berth, you will find fresh water and electricity available. The service bollards are operated with a £1.00 coin or with a token available to purchase in the Harbour Office. The depth in the water berth is CD+1.0m (a drying height of 1.0m).
